Because of local laws that prohibit the exportation of raw materials, all of our furniture is manufactured in Thailand by Vanacheroen Co. Ltd., a premier manufactureer renowned worldwide for their meticulous attention to detail by the highest skilled and experienced craftsmen. Located at Bangpa-in Ayutthaya, about 60 miles north of Bangkok, this facility is one of the few in the world which literally produces furniture from the first cut of the raw tree to the final coat of finish. That, along with inspections at every level of production, gives true meaning to the term "quality control."

There is a distinct aroma from the cutting of this wood that is ever present throughout the factory. The pleasant smell combined with the natural reddish tone in this wood is why it has been so appropriately dubbed Rosewood. Technically, the proper name for the most sought after species are Fa-lee, a Chinese name pronounced Wha-lee, or in Thai, Pradu or Paduak, which Vanacharoen uses exclusively. Many other species exist but are not nearly as hard or as dense, lacking the intense tropical grains and weight, which makes them far less valuable.
